Book review: The Newsroom Mafia.

A DEFINATE PAGE TURNER………..

“A definite page-turner, sterling performance, must read.”  These are the words I whispered to myself after finishing the debut of Oswald Pereira.

This book is a film crying to be made. It is a very planned and researched story on such a beautiful theme of mafia and underworld. During its read I can see an interesting, super hit movie scenes combined in such a manner that one suspense reveals another hundreds at a time. There are several times when reader’s mouth remains open because of smooth cold blooded murders or rich conversation between notorious Don and his greedy brothers.

In this debut journalist turned novelist, Oswald Pereira provides an insider’s view of culture of media person and facts of news stories today. ‘The Newsroom Mafia’ is a title capturing links between the fourth estate, the underworld and the government of Mumbai. Story is surrounded by politics, planned and planted incidents and notorious people of the newsroom press, underworld and corruption in media.

Let me give you hint of novel – “When super minded police officer Donald Fernandez declares an arrest of notorious don Narayan Swamy, The Newsroom press prints such blasting news before his arrest! Oscar, a reporter who wrote the story gets screwed up on such big issue of story before its happening. The don Narayan Swamy, backed by powerful politicians and supercool journalists uses his dirty tactics and power, and saves himself at all time. Now a racy, cold blooded war starts and, at the end of all big storms good wins.”

All information will ruin the eagerness of readers, so let me conclude you- “In quest between good and evil writer Oswald gives silent message to be good and non-corrupt.”

Like we call Chetan Bhagat as writer of romantic and humorous stories then, this journalist has a potential to become writer of hard hitting suspense and crime.  If reader likes to read suspense type fiction then “The newsroom mafia” is must read.

I gave this debut -4 star, because there is a factor called ‘smoothness of story’ goes out of track sometimes, but not every time. I think Oswald is very good writer and has a good advantage of his journalism in his writing style. Go ahead and order this page turner right now…..Have a good reading…J
